Performance Improvements


NMS uses MACS Warehouse Management System (WMS) which  is a  highly functional and flexible WMS.Generally easy to use and effective in achieving accurate computerised stock quantity and location control, it manages  Order processing (health facility budgets, budget holder to product relationships, etc) Goods receipt, put away, movements, picking (“blind-picking” ) , packing. It has inbuilt Radio Frequency Capability and Journey planning module which allows the orders to be assembled for each delivery journey

NMS has a modern 7,200sqm warehouse at Entebbe (present location) which is used for the orderly receipt, storage and packing of supplies destined to GOU Health facilities. NMS delivers door to door at least once every 2 months to all government and other accredited facilities (2,953) countrywide following the predetermined delivery schedule. NMS also has a system that enable the processing of emergency orders within hours. We have 2 shifts that work for 8hrs each (8am-5pm and 8pm-5am) Monday to Friday, but we also work on weekends and public holidays when need arises.Deliveries are made from 8am-5pm from Monday to Friday, including weekends and public holidays if necessary. For the Hospitals , NMS vehicles directly deliver to their premises every month. Real time updates showing where NMS has delivered can be accessed from our online delivery monitoring application.

For  lower health facilities, delivery is to the DHO’s premises. From the DHO’s premises, NMS then hands over the medicines to private providers who in turn deliver them directly to the health facility where the cartons for the individual facility with be opened and contents confirmed.

This handover is expected to be witnessed by district and local officials, including security officials .We have, in addition, established regional customer care offices in 9 different parts of the country that keep in close touch with all our  customers and ensure that they are updated on NMS’ services.

NMS has an SMS short code running on 6090 where the public can send SMS free of charge on issues regarding deliveries or any other complaint.
